Episode 0: Intro

Welcome to the Storytelling Language Series

Hello and welcome to the Storytelling Language Series.

I am your host, Verónica Moscoso, and I want to introduce the series with one question:

“How do I teach with stories?”

This is a question that a Spanish teacher asked me a while ago. I was able to have a conversation with her, but this is a question that has been asked by many, many language educators over the years.

So it’s something that stayed with me, and I created this podcast to answer that question.

I know that many language teachers are wondering, “How can I make my classes more fun but at the same time effective?”

And I am here to tell you how.

But one thing I want you to know is that I don’t have all the answers. So, in every episode, we will have a guest. I’m bringing teacher trainers, experienced teachers, researchers, authors, and more. Each one will bring their own perspective and ideas that have transformed classrooms all over the world.

I want to make sure that you know what I’m talking about when I say, “using storytelling in the language classroom.”

It is much more than reading a story out loud. It is about bringing characters to life. It’s about students creating their own stories. It’s about reading easy-to-read books for each level of comprehension and asking meaningful questions. Pretty much, it is about having a classroom where communication, imagination, and connection are fundamental.

My hope is that these conversations with my guests will give you ideas that you can apply in your own classrooms.

This series is available in different formats. We have the podcast. We have videos on the Veromundo YouTube channel, where you can find the series. You can also find the blog on my website, veromundo.store.

If you have questions, comments, or ideas for the series, feel free to post them in the comments section.

Thank you for being here. I’m so glad you decided to join me on this journey.

And welcome again to the Storytelling Language Series.
